Band Biography
Since 1976, the Circle City Sidewalk Stompers Clown Band has been delighting audiences in Indianapolis with their fast-moving, choreographed routines set to upbeat music. This lively brass band features talented musicians playing trumpets, trombones, saxophones, bass and snare drums, and a sousaphone, all while dressed in colorful clown costumes. With their unique blend of music and comic interaction, this jazz band brings fancy footwork and entertainment to every performance, captivating the crowd.
...a family raised in music
At the age of five, Steve Sutherlin played trumpet for his kindergarten graduating class. At that time, he had no way of knowing where his trumpet playing would take him. Instilled with a love of music by his father, Steve and his four siblings would later find themselves part of a vibrant Brass Band in Indianapolis, and he would even play in a Jazz Band and the clown band, showcasing his passion for music.
49 years of Performances
Forty-nine years ago when I first started the Brass Band, I had no idea where it would go. Over the years, our Indianapolis-based group has made millions of people smile with our family friendly show that connects with people of all ages. It's unbelievable to me that our passion for music, including our performances as a Jazz Band and the clown band, has taken us throughout the U.S. and now worldwide. I can't wait to see what we do next!
